LinksOlvera Links I have clustered five short video links together (see below) as they all relate to the Padre Jesus Nazarene procession. Look closely, as the procession appears out of the church, at just how many men is takes to carry one of these beloved religious icons. Its a huge honor bestowed on men of the town to carry one of these. Fabulously serene and bedecked in rich brocades, the figures sit atop gold ornate platforms decorated with masses of flowers, some under red and gold intricately decorated canopies amidst the glow of many candles. The men solemnly and gently carry their precious loads. They are meticulously dressed in black suits and white gloves, and mingling with the crowds escorts in black and white gowns with long pointed hats which also cover the face of each individual, with some carrying holy crosses - reminiscent you might think of the Klu Klux clan but the origins of these figures far outdate anything that might mimic them - truly a sight not to be missed. Watch out for a view of the Castle lit up in the night sky too. These clips do not have any narrative but there is a sound track of the music and the applause of the crowds heard during the procession. Link 1 Link 2 Link 3 Link 4 Link 5 This next link again a YouTube presentation, has some rousing music accompanying it so you might want to turn your volume down but its very appropriate. It covers the Semana Santa held in 2007, one of the major festivals held throughout the year. The night time scenes are really not to be missed and its amazing the number of people who take part in the processions and the spectators, as most of this takes place late in the evening and into the early hours. Two further links are of the Semana Santas held in Seville and Malaga.
