Menzies Cottage has a lounge, kitchen and separate dining room as well as four bedrooms on the upper floors.
There is an open log fire in the comfortable lounge which has views up Church Street.
The kitchen is well supplied for all your cooking needs, and there is a washing machine and use of a tumble drier. The house has a combi boiler which heats water as required. All fuel costs included in the price.
There is also a private courtyard to the rear with seating area, children's outdoor toys and herb garden for your cooking pleasure.
As an 18th century cottage, I am afraid that Menzies Cottage is not accessible to wheelchair users. All bedrooms are upstairs. However, there is a downstairs cloakroom toilet.
As mentioned above, the cottage has four bedrooms: a double room with kingsize bed, a second double room, plus a twin bedroom and single bedroom with coombed ceilings in the attic.
The cottage is owned and let by Gillian, who lives next door. There is also a range of books, toys, jigsaws, games and DVD’s available for you on request, to help you enjoy your stay.
For bookings, availability or enquiries email Gillian
There is a small dining room. The table opens out to accommodate up to 8 people.
The tea pot and jug are from the local pottery.
Daphne was the previous owner of the cottage and had lived here for many years. The trunk was left behind and now contains toys for visiting children.
Books, DVDs and Games
A range of books, DVDs and Games have been left for both adults and children to enjoy. Beach items are also there to borrow.
We are in the process of upholstering or refurbishing all of the furniture. This is a nursing chair left in the cottage when we bought it. It now sits with new fabric in the play space in the attic.
Camore Wood pine cones
These pine cones (or fir cones I am not confident of the difference) were collected from Camore Woods near Dornoch. The woods have a child play area with a fort, den building materials and other woodland adventure items.
This is a sculpture by local artist Leon Patchett. We have various other items from local artists in the cottage for your interest and pleasure.
The white sand and reeds are from Dornoch beach. A trip across on the ferry takes you to Nigg beach another white sand beach.
There are beach treasures to be found, sea glass, shells and colourful pebbles.
