Situated on the fringe of the Dornoch conservation area, the cottage is a traditional sandstone blacksmiths built in 1868 that has been renovated to a high standard of insulation and finish.

As both the owners are artists, the walls are hung with paintings and prints. The pitch pine ceiling, cedar doors and mixture of family furniture are all part of the attention to detail that make this an attractive place to stay.

'We had a most peaceful and relaxing few days in your house with beautiful things everywhere you look. I shall go away inspired to be more creative and dream about ducks and geese and sheep and silvery light on water and seals and wish as ever we were nearer.'
