INVERNESS
The River Ness dominates the centre of Inverness.
Quality accommodation only a few paces from the mouth of (inver) this river and a mere 200 metres from the city centre provides a wonderful opportunity to explore the city without having to use the car.

Castlebrae, as the name suggests, is on a hillside (brae) close to Inverness Castle. This beautiful sandstone castle, sitting on the site of a former wooden castle destroyed by the Jacobites. The castle is currently the courthouse in Inverness, and out front there is a statue of Flora Macdonald, the heroine of the Jacobite Rebellion, gazing up the Great Glen in search of her prince.
There are excellent open-topped bus tours of the town including the infamous Culloden Battlefield providing an opportunity drop in on it's excellent visitors centre.
Golf is a regular passtime for many Scots and Inverness has three golf challenging courses and approximately 25 other excellent links and woodland courses within an hours drive - including two Championship courses at Nairn and Dornoch.
Alternatively, Inverness has an excellent museum and plenty facilities, such as the Aquadome, Rollerbowl and Warner Village Cineplex.
