New to the holiday rental market, Strathy Cottage is the ultimate location set in Sutherland in the North Highlands of Scotland.  This superbly presented cottage is perched on a hillside adjoining one of the most beautiful beaches to be found anywhere in the British Isles.  Set in it's own garden grounds with stunning views across the sea and the white sweeping sands of Strathy Beach, Strathy cottage is the quintessential get-away-from-it -all cottage in an unrivalled location. Built in traditional Scottish Style this former croft house has been lovingly and painstakingly restored. The pretty lounge has a deep leather suite and a welcoming multi-fuel stove.  A neat purpose-built cupboard at one end contains a fully sprung pull-down bed for plus two if required.  The kitchen/diner is a real delight with brightly coloured tiles and modern units, there is a cooker, microwave/grill, washing machine and fridge.  There is a good-sized double bedroom and modern shower room.  A superb walk direct from the cottage across the Strathy River takes you to the wonderful sweeping sands of Strathy Bay.  This spectacular beach is never busy and with rock pools, caves and the beautiful river alongside is ideal for sunbathing, picnics and a host of water sports.  Fishing off the rocks and in the local rivers and lochs is also a popular pastime.  The area is a paradise for surfers, body boarders and beach lovers yet even in the height of summer there will only be a handful of people enjoying this amazing location.  It is also a wild-life watchers's paradise.  Whales, basking sharks, porpoises, seals and otters can all be seen in the area.  There is also a colony of puffins nearby which can be seen in Spring and early Summer and at Forsinard there is an RSPB nature reserve.  The pretty villages along this stretch of coast also have good local facilities including pubs and restaurants, Strathy Inn is only a 5 minute walk from the cottage.  Golf, cycling, hill-walking and horse-riding are also available locally. Further East, just the other side of Thurso, is the Castle of Mey, the only castle ever actually owned by the late Queen Mother and one of her favourite places to spend her time.  Guided tours are available, there is also a Cafe and the gardens and animals are well worth a look.  Slightly further afield there are day trips available to Orkney from Scrabster, John O'Groats and Gills Bay.

THIS IS A NON-SMOKING COTTAGE.

PETS WELCOME.
