If your interests are birdwatching and the natural environment - both Scottish Natural Heritage and RSPB are based in the village and are happy to keep you informed. Loch Fleet is a paradise for twitchers- osprey can be seen here. Also the world famous Flow Country is only a half hour's drive away up the Strath of Kildonan. There is also an interesting Geological Exhibition to visit called the Orcadian Stone Company.
For walkers - Ben Bhraggie, reached by a path leading up from the village, is a must and the view from the top is stunning. Another beautiful walk is the Big Burn which makes it way down through an incredibly lush gorge crossed by a series of bridges and viewing platforms.
A mile north of the village is Dunrobin Castle, open to the public including a museum, ornamental gardens and falconry exhibition.
