FAQs

Where exactly are you located?
Monster Lodge is located in Inverfarigaig, midway down the quiet south side of Loch Ness on the B852. The city of Inverness is only 16 miles away.

Where is the nearest airport or train/bus stations?
Inverness is the nearest airport, only 35 minutes drive from Monster Lodge. There are flights from across the UK so wherever you are based, flying is now an easy option to reach the Highlands. If you don't wish to fly, the nearest train and bus stations are in the city of Inverness.

How many rooms do you have and how many people can you accommodate?
We offer flexible accommodation for 10 persons. We have three double bedrooms and two twin bedrooms. Two double bedrooms and one twin bedroom has ensuite facilities.

Do you cater for people with disabilities?
All facilities at Monster Lodge are on the ground floor and on a level site so you do not have to worry about any steps or stairs.  There is one double bedroom on the ground floor with ensuite facilities for someone with disabilities, however I’m afraid that the house is not suitable for those confined wholly to a wheelchair.

Do you have a shower or a bath?
There are five bathrooms at Monster Lodge. The large family bathroom has both a bath tub and a separate shower. There are also another three power showers in the house in the various en-suite locations.

Can we book the house for just a few days or for a long weekend?
We offer short breaks, with a minimum stay of 3 nights from November to March and some dates in September (excluding Christmas and New Year). From April to October the house is normally let on a weekly basis (7 days) from Saturday to Saturday but do ask.

What time can we check in?
You are welcome to check in any time after 4.00 p.m. on the Saturday of your arrival.

When do we have to check out?
We request that you check out by 10.00 a.m. on the Saturday of departure.

How late can we arrive?
If you have a long journey to get here we understand that you may arrive later in the evening but don't worry, you will still have access to the house.

Do you allow pets at Monster Lodge?
Monster lodge is a pet free rental, so if you suffer from pet alergies you can be sure that there is little chance of animal hair around.

Is there free off-road parking?
Yes, we have plenty of free off-road parking enough for four cars.

Are you within walking distance of a pub?
I'm afraid that if you like to go to the pub each evening and you don't want to drive, then Monster Lodge is probably not for you. The closest pub/hotel is 2 miles in the village of Foyers - a great walk during the long summer evenings but really out of the question in a rural area during the winter months.

Is there a barbecue at Monster lodge?                                                                   Yes, there is a charcoal barbecue on the large decking area overlooking the garden and forrest.

If we don't want to eat at Monster Lodge in the evening, are there good restaurants nearby?
Yes, although the nearest restaurants and cafe are in Foyers, 2 miles. Alternatively you can eat at Dores, Inverness or Fort Augustus. There is lots of information on this website and in the house to help you make your choice.

Monster Lodge is in a rural location - where can I get fuel?
The nearest petrol stations are either in Inverness or Fort Augustus - both of while are 16 miles away.

We are staying for a week but want to leave on the Friday - is this OK?
Sure thing - some folk have a long drive and may want to do this over a couple of days. If you wish to leave on Friday just let us know please.
