Following are some ideas of things to do while you are staying at Wester Whinhill. Many visitors are happy in and around the house whilst others stray further afield - whatever your preference there is always lots to do!

In addition to Golf and Walking you could try some of the following :-

Around the House
The Pool : a great favourite with young and old alike, and it's always warm!
The Garden : take a walk around and help yourself to some fresh fruit or vegatables.
Walks : there are forest and beach walks from 20 minutes upwards accessible from the house.
Dornoch Lochans : Golf and Fly Fishing less than 5 minutes walk from the house.

Dornoch Town Jail : A superb Scottish crafts shop with a working weaving shed to visit.
Historylinks Museum : From the Vikings to Madonna and lots in between - don't miss it!
Dornoch Cathedral : Visit our beatiful 13th century Cathedral.
Golf : Royal Dornoch is known throughout the golfing world - Click here for all local courses
Beaches : Miles and miles of clean, safe sandy beaches, rockpools and sand dunes.
Shops : Dornoch has a wide range of independent shops catering for most needs.
 

Within 20 minutes drive

Embo : Traditional fishing village and home to the famous 'Grannies Heilan Hame'
The Mound & Loch Fleet nature reserve where you can often see seals on the sandbanks
Tain : Scotlands oldest Burgh, the nearest train station and the Glenmorangie distillery.
Kyle of Sutherland : The gateway to the west coast with wonderful views.
Golspie : Home of the fairytale Dunrobin Castle in the shadow of Ben Bhraggie
Falls of Shin : See the spectacular Salmon leap (alas the shop and restaurant are no more!).
Mountain Biking : ride the purpose built trails at Golspie and Bonar Bridge
 

Day Trips

Helmsdale - Try your hand at gold panning and visit the Timespan museum
John o'Groats & Castle of Mey - a day trip to Orkney is even possible in the summer!
Ullapool & Lochinver - two beautiful fishing villages on the scenic west coast.
Inverness & Loch Ness - Visit the Highland Capital and try a spot of Nessie hunting!
Fort William & Lochaber - See Ben Nevis, the UK's highest mountain.
Cromarty & The Black Isle - See dolphins, visit Hugh Miller's cottage and climb the Soutors
