Welcome to DornieFàilte dhan DòrnaidhWe hope you enjoy looking at our house, available for self-catering holidays in the beautiful West Highlands of Scotland. It offers something very special for your holiday. It has everything you need - a famous castle, fantastic scenery, lots of wildlife, and comfort and relaxation.
Cluich is a traditional, highland cottage, built by the owner's grandfather in the 1920s. It sits beside the sea-loch, Loch Long, on a quiet single track road. It's a two-minute drive to the village of Dornie - or a very pleasant 10 minute stroll - where you'll find a shop, post office, pub and hotel.
Why come to Dornie? This small, friendly village offers a great location and plenty of amenities for an enjoyable holiday. If you like hill-walking, the cottages are ideal for days out in the Cuillins, the Kintail and Torridon hills. There's also plenty of low-level paths if you don't feel so energetic. The wildlife is amazing - red and roe deer, otters, seals, porpoises and dolphins, eagles, buzzards, woodpeckers, warblers, swallows, ducks, geese, waders and so much more. There's a good range of boat trips which are great for viewing the sealife of the area as well as getting a different view of the hills. Nearby are beaches at Glenelg, where you can also visit ancient brochs or use the old ferry crossing to Skye; Ashaig on Skye where there's an ancient holy well; and Applecross, home latst year to BBC's Monty Hall. If it's too cold for swimming in the sea, there's a family-orientated pool with gym and sauna in Kyle of Lochalsh. If eating out is your thing, you'll be spoilt for choice. From homely bar meals to a Michelin-starred restaurant on Skye, there's something to cater for every taste. Some of the pubs have traditional music sessions and the local hall has a wide range of entertainment throughout the year. | |||||
